Ketera has been working as an autotransfusionist for the last three years. Although the call schedule can be demanding, she loves working with the surgeons and anesthesiologists in the O.R. “The best part about being an autotransfusionist has to be working with the surgical team to ensure minimal blood loss for patients,” Ketera said.

Ketera enjoys working for Vivacity because of the flexibility, opportunity, and teamwork. “Tyler is an awesome leader and human being–he’s extremely humble and sweet. He makes work feel like it’s not work, which is important in such a serious profession.”

Ketera recommends to any young person looking into the medical field to consider the world of Perfusion. “Perfusionists are superheroes. We always hear about heart surgeons and techs, but you never hear about the person running the machine that keeps the patient alive during heart surgery. There is so much you can do in the  medical field without being a bedside nurse.”
